Working on More Than One Project….

I know there are several knitters or crocheters out there that have several projects going at one time.  My mom used to do it and at any given point she could be working on a scarf, a sweater and a pair of socks.  I have such a hard time starting something else when I’m not finished with my original project.  I tried it once and I just couldn’t do it.  I kept thinking about the original project that I had started and how it was just sitting there waiting to be finished.  I almost felt guilty for putting down my original project and picking up something new.  I couldn’t enjoy the new venture I had started.

For example, right now I’m working on my Leftover Yarn Afghan and I am probably about 3/4 of the way done.  But there is a little itch inside of me that is wanting to start on something else.  Either dishclothes or a pair of socks.  But I’m having a hard time putting down the afghan and starting my new project.  It may be that I have a teeny tiny bit of OCD and just have to keep going until I finish what I started.  Just not sure!  But I’m having a hard time putting down the afghan to start on something else.  Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this?  Is it because I’ve only been knitting for a few years?  Will it eventually become easier?

I don’t get much time to knit, maybe an hour every night after I get home from work and a couple of hours on the weekend so to knit an afghan takes a very long time for me.  I’m ready to move on to something new but of course don’t want to discard the afghan.

Do you have more than one project going? How do you do it!

  2. I always have about three projects on the go at one time. I’m the same as you, I don’t get much time to knit so it takes me ages to finish. I get bored therefore if I have a few knitting projects, it keeps it a bit interesting. It is very annoying having incomplete items in my knitting bag though and the husband is still waiting for the scarf I promised 2 years ago.

    • Lol. I’m getting used to it. These last few weeks I’ve worked on a few different things and It does make it a little more exciting when one of the items I’m working on is a quick finish. That way I at least feel a little accomplished. And I agree it’s nice to mix it up a bit so you don’t get bored.
