My North Carolina Sweater!!!

I have finally finished my sweater & have called it my North Carolina Sweater!!!  I had a few bumps along the way.  But I’m very happy with the end result & I can’t wait to use it!!!  It is super warm & big & cuddly!  LOL

The sweater was a kit that I received for Christmas a couple of years ago.  It was from Mary Maxim.  The yarn is Mary Maxim Ragg which is an acrylic yarn.  And the pattern is also from Mary Maxim, called Ragg Jacket.  It actually knit up fairly quickly.  It was done in parts.  The back part was of course the longest to complete, but after that it went fairly quickly when I did work on it.

New Etsy Purchases….

I’ve been doing more shopping on Etsy!!!  I just can’t help myself!  I love hand made crafts & I love supporting those that are selling them!

First new purchase is another ball of self-striping sock yarn from Lollipop Yarn.

I am so in love with anything & everything that she makes!  I just can’t believe how quickly the yarn sells though!  She does updates on her shop every few weeks and everything she puts on there sells out within a minute!  I kid you not!  hmmmmmm  Maybe I should keep this shop a secret though….  LOL Continue reading

Lollipop Yarn Socks…..

I am totally addicted to Lollipop Yarn!  I am so glad that I was finally lucky enough to purchase a ball of this yarn!!  This color way is called Sentimental Journey.   It has my favorite colors, pink and green!!  And the yarn is so soft!  I just love it!  It is definitely one of my all time favorite yarns now!  I just hope I can continue to be lucky enough to get a ball here & there.  🙂

I had a hard time deciding what pattern to use.  I didn’t want it to be too complicated so that the beautiful striping of the yarn would be over powered by the pattern but I wanted something more than the average rib or stockinette stitch socks.

I finally decided on Simple Skyp Socks by Adrienee Ku.

The Completed Baby Set

The first set is complete!

IMG_5115

Baby Blanket made using Garter Stitch Baby Throw by Lion Brand.  Yarn is Plymouth Yarn Encore Dynamo.

I love this pattern!  It is knit diagonal  so it’s a little different.  The garter stitch gives it a great texture & you can get creative with the border by adding ribbon.  🙂

The baby booties pattern is Seamless Garter Tassel Booties by Karen Strauss

The baby Hat pattern is Sea Monkey Baby Hat by Kelly McClure

This was really fun to make!  I hope mommy loves it!  Now I’m off to make the same set for little Twin Baby Boy!!

Baby Booties and Hat

These baby booties were super quick to knit!  And they are just too cute!  I love the little tassel!

The pattern is called Seamless Garter Tassel Booties by Karen Strauss.  I used Plymouth yarn Encore Dynamo.  I absolutely love this yarn!  It is super soft!

The pattern starts off using Judy’s Magic Cast-On.  I’ve never done it before and from what I understand it is much easier if you do it on circulars, but of course I was using DPN so it was a bit awkward!  LOL  I had never done this cast on so I went to you tube & found this great tutorial.  The first couple of rows were super awkward!  I had no clue if I was doing it right but I kept at it.  🙂  The instructions for this pattern are super easy to follow and you can finish the pair in half a day!  (and I’m a slow knitter!)

Aren’t they just adorable!!

They were super fun & quick!  And a great easy pattern!

Next was a cute little baby hat.

The pattern I used was Sea Monkey Baby Hat by Kelly McClure.  Great pattern, easy to follow and super cute with the little ears!

Is it not the cutest thing ever!

Super cute little set!  I’m very happy with the way they both came out!

Ordering Away

I’ve ordered a couple of things on Etsy recently.  I love Etsy!  One of these days I hope to be able to open my own Etsy store.  But in the meantime I find myself browsing Etsy looking for cute & different things.

A couple of weeks ago I decided I was going to order some tags for my knitting projects that I give as gifts.  I found a shop called Mountain Street Arts.

I’ve had it as a favorite for a while & I finally decided to order something.  I chose the small label & tag combo.  I felt this would be perfect.  I could use the tags for things like blankets, scarves, shawls…. and the labels for sweaters & well, who knows…. LOL  I’m glad I went with this combo because it gives me the choice on whether I want to lightly sew on a label or just attach a tag.  And speaking of sewing on a label, my thought is to not sew it on so it’s permenant but so it can be easily taken off if the recipient wants. Babies are coming!!!

I have a couple of family members that are prego!!! How awesome is that!
This means I’ll be making a few baby items this year!!

A couple of weeks ago my cousin mentioned to me that my mom had made a baby blanket for her daughter & asked if I would mind making the same blanket for her twins. I was so touched! My eyes filled with tears. I know it’s silly. But I felt so honored! Like I am carrying on my mom’s tradition!
So of course I said yes!!! I knew exactly which blanket my mom had made too.

Last week she text me that she found out she was having a boy & a girl!! How awesome is that!! So this past weekend off I went to my LYS. I found the perfect yarn, Encore Dynamo by Plymouth Yarn.

Catching up…..

Wow, I can’t believe it has been 4 weeks since my last post!  Eeek!!  I wish I could say I have a bunch of FOs… but I don’t.  😦  Though I have been working on a couple of things.  I finished another pair of yoga socks.  I like these much better than the previous ones that I made using the stretchy yarn.

IMG_4892

This was done using Yoga Socks #153 by Patons.  And I used Plymouth yarn Sockotta in pink/green/orange.  I loved this yarn!!  Too bad it is discontinued!!  Thankfully there was enough left over so I can squeeze out another pair of socks & I do have another skein of this but in blues & greens in my stash!!  🙂

IMG_4828

The pattern is easy to remember, 8 row repeat.  It looks great & is nice & stretchy!  I loved the no heel aspect of it!  They knitted up pretty quickly too!  I hope the recipient loves them as much as I enjoyed knitting them!  I’m going to have to make more of these!  LOL Continue reading

Memories….

Last week after I finished my Neon Socks I wasn’t sure what to work on next.  I still have my sweater that I’m working on but I needed something else.  So I stood in front of my stash closet & looked around at everything.  My eyes fell on a bag of pink & grey sock yarn.  I love this combo so I grabbed the bag & took the contents out.  Well, there were 4 skeins of Patons Stretch Socks yarn along with a pattern to make pedicure socks.

I sat back & remembered the exact day I got this, but I want to give you a little background first.

My mom taught me to knit a few years ago.  You can read about that here.  But since then every once in a while we would both work on the same project, kind of like our own little KAL.  We made socks & sweaters & afghans…   So when my mom would come across something that she thought would be good for both of us to work on she would buy everything needed.  This was one of those things.  She came over to my house with the pattern & the yarn for both of us to make this project.  Well, one thing led to another and we never actually made it.  So, this was it!  I was going to make these socks!
